By Travis Bowles You probably know the story or something about what happened that day while they were in Japan. If not I’ll tell you pretty much the basic stuff that went down. Between all the disrespect to everyone in Japan and something stupid enough to shock the world. People are commenting on how dumb he was and how he should be taken off youtube. Logan knew respect was held over everything in Japan but still didn’t try and show any, he was just disrespectful to the people in the streets and everyone he met or passed. From yelling in the temple and getting kicked out, to going to a fish market and leave it on the back of a taxi when he was done playing with them. And as the night went on it got worse and there was even less respect shown. There was a little market or something where he bought a couple things, one being a gameboy he smashed and trying to return it. The others being a Pikachu jumpsuit and pokeball, the jumpsuit he just walked in the middle of the road saying. “I’m an American don’t worry”. Then stripped in the middle of the road while throwing the pokeball pillow at cars and people. And finally the first thing you’ll hear about Logan is the trip to Aokigahara, (suicide forest) where he saw and recorded a dead body of someone who hung himself. And if that wasn’t enough he made fun of suicide while standing next to the body. But I’m pretty sure he’d be forgiven him but when his personality is that disrespectful and him laughing and making fun with the body hanging, I don’t see how that would ever be forgiven. And this video made a lot of people mad where he had to hire a bodyguard for over 6.5 million dollars. Personally I think with all the videos he’s made on Youtube where he’s just being a jerk with no respect for anyone, I think he should be taken off Youtube. And to add on to the damage he’s caused, Logan stood in a window waving at his fans and fakes his death. But most of them were kids in middle school and when you place a gunman behind you and a bunch of fake blood hitting the glass, it’s just not cool. By: ShaeLeigh Higginson, Staff Writer Stress, we all get it and we all have it- no it's not a disease but it can make you ill in many ways. How do we get stressed out over stuff and why exactly? It has a lot to do with anxiety, deadlines, people, times, places you need to be. All those things can stress us out if we let those things get to us and bother us. Stress will last as long as you let it and if you do nothing about it then your stress can turn into something worse, depression. Depression is pretty much a mix of anxiety, and stress. Sometimes it can go far and lead us into a black tunnel where are bodies become weak and we thrive on the dark as if we were vampires, it all starts with not doing homework or not paying the bills on time then it turns into bad grades or court. That's when you get the anxiety when your parents find that grade sheet you hid from them or your house gets taken away for not paying bills then you get stressed out. You ask yourself the same question “What do I do?!?”. You know if you don't handle the problem it will get worse then you will get worse. You might try so hard that you lose sleep or fall apart, your chest is tight and your body is sore but you had a deadline remember and if you don’t turn those things in then you might become the deadline. You start becoming depressed, you're sad, worried, tired, anxious and stressed out so now maybe you skip a meal, you're too depressed to swallow what will only make you even more lazy or give you more weight to handle. It becomes a problem for some and a sad in the moment feeling for others but for the people who can't handle it go too far, Maybe you grab a knife and slowly slide it across your wrist letting the blood drip it's like a relief of stress and depression just for a moment because the pain on your arm is what you're more drawn to so you keep cutting just to feel better for the moment because you crave the relief so much you would do anything just to have that freedom for a minute, even if it means putting yourself on the tight rope many others walk on or have walked on, some made it to the other side, some turned around and graduated and the tight rope disappeared but others jumped off and others fell on accident and some are still walking the same tight rope because the end is so far. You're more scared of depression and stress rather than jumping off the rope. Stress is the yellow brick road to either the witch's house or emerald city. A lot of people who get stressed go left instead of right and they end up at the witch's house, others end up at emerald city and it all goes away. You can find your way to emerald city even if it means you're on the tight rope of cutting, depression, starving yourself. You can get away from all of that, your friends, the lion, the tin man and the scarecrow can help you, even if they’re just depressed people telling many other depressed people the way to emerald city while they stay behind and wait. Stress can lead to death if you let it. Thanks for writing on such an important subject. Yenifer MartinezFeatured JournalistA few days ago, Logan high had an assembly that they have every year about the internet and how we should really be aware of how much impact the internet has on us. The lady that was talking and stated that the average 6th-8th grader spend about 6 hours a day on the internet and then went on to say that our generation wants things quickly since we have become so used to the internet and it giving us access to information quickly.
The students in the assembly were told that we have become addicted to the internet, that we can’t wait a few minutes without checking our phones. She demonstrated this by showing a video about an experiment where kids are told that they can eat a marshmallow that they have given them or they can wait 10 minutes to get a second marshmallow and I’m assuming that this was just a way of telling us that we really are impatient when it comes to to things we want to see especially phones. We got into a touchy subject that really gets people thinking when it comes to technology and that is texting and driving. 60% of car accidents are caused by someone texting and driving. We saw a video about someone asking teens how often they glance at their phone while driving and most of them said that do it every now and then, they were then confronted by a girl that told a story about her family getting in an awful accident that cost the life of both of her parents and all because of some driver that was looking at their phone while driving. It really makes you think about how easy it is to take a life within the matter of seconds. One of the most important messages in the assembly has to be the dangers when it comes to the internet. She talked about online predators which is the most common thing you will hear when it comes to online safety. The lady then started spitting facts about 99% of online predators are male and at the age range of 26 and up. We really should be cautious of these online predators. These always a block button anyways but that’s not the only thing we should be looking out for. You should also watch out for the term in conditions. We were informed that if you don’t have time to read the terms and conditions on an app (Which we don’t because they are like 500 pages long) then all you have to do is google the certain apps terms and conditions and google will tell you the most important parts of the terms and conditions. You’d be surprised of the things they ask of you if you authorize an app like having access to your contact information, turn on your microphone without you knowing and even asking you for your credit card information so please be safe on the internet and be very cautious because as fun as the internet can be, it can be extremely dangerous as well. CLUBS Do you want to join one of the school clubs but you don’t know how or you have no idea what you’re going to be doing in the club or what it is even about? Does the name of the club give you an idea of what you are about to join? Do you know what you will be doing in the club? Many of us don’t know so I’m here to give you a student perspective on one of the clubs and if it is what you expect it to be. How did people come up with the ideas for a club? If your curious about the clubs, we have this year. I interviewed a student of Logan High School, Aryssa Mahnken who created one of the newest clubs this year, I asked her many questions we all want answers to about a club. Troop is the name, clever in my opinion, for a dance group the name fits better than the shoe that did stay on Cinderella’s foot. Why a dance group? Why the name? how did she come up with the club? Why did she come up with the club? “I came up with the club to bring people together and to have fun, also so people can make new friends” Aryssa said. “I feel like dancing can bring people together plus it’s really fun to dance, I want people to feel like they belong and like they can be a part of something.” “I chose music that I think everyone will like and that will get them pumped up, once I get to know each member as an individual I think I can mash up everyone’s style to where they will all like it”. I asked her what she plans to do with the club in the future, “well I hope it can get out their more and become popular”. In a few years Aryssa Mahnken will be out of high school and on her way to college, hopefully the club can keep going with a leader as great as her once she is out of high school. Maybe it will stay like a trend or a click, we will see. Rachel Vernon |
