Alexis Olson Staff writer Logan High Girl’s Tennis took first place in 3A region. Individually, Rice and Hugie took first as well. Meg Rice and Kayla Hugie are all-around involved students currently excelling in tennis for Logan High. Other than receiving Academic All-State in tennis, Kayla Hugie is a student body officer and plays basketball. Meg Rice, a senior, is a cheerleader for Logan High and a lifeguard at the Sports Academy. These two girls are involved and kind to others. At the beginning of this season, Logan High Girl’s Tennis got a new coach. They were also placed into the 3A division.
Rice said, “Our new coach is a sweetheart. We love her and she has really helped us do this well.” She added, “I think being in 3A this year will really help us at state and region because we have had more experience with harder teams.” Rice and Hugie are excelling in tennis as individuals and as a team. They are in first place for first and second singles. Hugie said, “I think our season is going really well. Everyone has been working hard and it has showed in our matches.” Before region took place last Friday and Saturday, Hugie said, “We are all ranked high for region, and if we work as hard as we have been, we’ll do very well at region and even state.” Logan High Girl’s Tennis will be going down to state Friday and Saturday October 9th and 10th.
