Randy Gonzalez Staff Writer Raynger Keckler is one of the three team captains for the LHS soccer team. Keckler plays the right field defender position and excels at what he does. Before the soccer season started, Keckler was also on the wrestling team and is one of the best wrestlers, taking the 1st place at the state championship last year. This year he severely injured his back while wrestling, making him unable to wrestle this year. As time flowed, he started getting better and better and is now healed to the point where the injury is not bothersome, and just in time for soccer season. "We only need some warm-ups on the field to be ready [for soccer]. Keckler performed well during tryouts, thus making him a team captain. The two other captains are Aye Moe and Erick Reyes who also showed great skill and leadership in tryouts. The official season starts with their first game on March 7, only a week after tryouts.
When asked if the team is ready, Keckler simply replied, “We only need some warm-ups on the field to be ready.” The game on March 7 is a home game but might not be played at home because of the snowy weather; it is currently set to be played in Ogden. The soccer team is looking great this year. Keckler said that with enough good team chemistry and solid work ethic, the team plans to take state.
