Jamison Kenna Staff writer Celebrating its 30th year, the Academic Olympiad contest once again showcased what Logan High's great minds have to offer. Grizzlies won first place overall and first place in two of the four main subjects tested. Brandon Wada won first place overall. This was the 7th time in ten years that LHS has won first place, demonstrating the extraordinary minds that cycle through Logan High. Mr. Soffe, the AP history teacher who advises the team, explained that the contest focused on 24 different schools in Northern Utah and 214 different students participating. Each school gathers nine of their smartest students and starts preparing about 6 weeks before the competition. They answer general questions about each subject: math, science, social studies, and language arts. He said, “Logan High has some of the best students in the state and this just shows it. The fact that we swept all the medals was just really cool to see.”
